January MS PHARM Diary.

  • December hours: 5 hours
  • January hours: 0
  • Spring Semester Cumulative: 5 hours.

During the break, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Oschner's main campus. The experience of being a volunteer rather than an employee was striking. It was much more enjoyable, and I spent many more moments alone with patients, hearing their stories of how they landed in the hospital. In the future, I have signed up to volunteer at the V.A. and plan to return to City Park with my favorite gardeners.

I have been spending time studying, studying, and more studying. When I was not learning over break, I caught up on old laughs with friends and family, but now it's time to lock in. While I am sad the break is over, it feels good to be back in a more structured routine and learning more beneficial knowledge for the future.

We kicked off the semester with my favorite class: Med Pharm. The reproductive module set the bar high as far as the most interesting module. Next up is the Endocrine Module. In addition to the module exam, I have three presentations due in February. Is it Mardi Gras Break yet?? I anticipate the semester flying by in the blink of an eye, and with that, the course load will feel significantly heavier presentation-wise and with fewer exams.

I look forward to my final semester in the Pharmacology program. They say to save the best for last, and for that, this semester will go much smoother than the previous one. I've gained significant experience in this program, and with the dos and don'ts under my belt, I am equipped to take on the semester.
